Postby clio 480 turbo » Sun Jul 18, 2010 7:33 pm

i have a clio running a 480 turbo lump all of a sudden the car wont idle or rev up it will start then just die, if you try and rev it i will rev once then cut out, its getting good fuel and spark car has a new uprated fuel pump so no problems there as its been running mint for ages,
been told it might be crank shaft sensor, any one confirm
thanks

How's the fuelfilter, did you replace it when you changed the fuelpump?

They do go, you can measure the resistance on the connector. It has a brown and a yellow wire. Resistance should be between 160-280 ohm. If resistance is ok, take it out and clean the tip of the sensor with contactspray and a toothbrush. Another option could be the coil, those can work intermittant. They are known to quit working when getting warm/hot.

Don't know of a 3 pin connector, as far as I know they only come with a 2 pin connector. Sure you have the right connector?

Re: ECU AND FLY WHEEL OPTIONS SERIOUS HELP NEEDED PLEASE !

simple as this... the older engines usually running with a black coloured intake manifold will run a different crank sensor which means different wiring loom which means different ecu's. For example i have a 1993 engine with silver inlet with 215mm plate running blue ecu's with a 'two' pin crank sensor... this only allows me to run the later ecu's. Some of the older engines have 3 pins on the crank sensor and will only run 200mm plate with older orange ecu's i don't know where all these other colours go, as in which flywheel size they run all i know is you can only run a later flywheel with a later ecu

Check your MAF sensor if that is up the swany the car will not run, it wont idle and will die even quicker if you attempt to rev it! to check if the injectors are ok remove them from the inlet and have them wired in then cranck the engine over to see if they spray! thats the quickest way i can think of for checking they work.

help still needed , i have tried a different fuel ecu and maf sensor still no joy the crank sensor is ok the two relays on the loom are working, well i can hear them click when i crank the engine, no air leaks , good spark , fuel getting to the rail injector loom has power tested with a side light bulb still no start, i have tried putting petrol in the engine still no start. the only thing u have not tried is different injectors but surely if the injectors where broke it still should have run when i put the petrol in the engine.

do you have the correct loom with the engine?

200mm clutch, 3 wires from TDC-sensor

225mm clutch, 2 wires
