breaking a 1994 2 ltr 480 es with towbar

Cleaned up the garage and found some parts you want to sell? Or are you looking for that one part? You can advertise or request just about anything that has to do with the Volvo 480 in here: brochures, towing-hooks, antenna's, etc etc...

He will need access to paypal.

if its under 2kg then the postage should only be about 16 euros as an estimate . Will get back to you later tonight as I have just come in from work and just about to feed myself

Hi Jim!
He would only need the motor, without the highlevel light and the cover.
I don't know if he has a PayPal account, but it is not a problem: I could use my PayPal account to send you the money. :)

See you later...

No I dont make a living out of breaking 480's but I do occasionally strip down and break 480's that have something wrong with them . Since I intend to keep my 480 on the road for at least the next 10 years (as well as my daughters not to mention my sons 480) . I take the bits I reckon I need to add to my stock of parts and sell some of the surplus if needed. I can usually be relied on to have the odd part nut screw or bolt that you might need.

So I recycle not scrap ;)

I usually go on to the forum 2 or 3 times a day everyday. So I read virtually everything that people post and have a high post rate. So that tends to give a false impression.

Also I recently distributed on behalf of another member a load of free stuff :D

Hi GJim

I have PM'd you, but thought I'd double up in case.

Need your ECU if it's still available - any chance?

Cheers - Justin

Hi Davoxx

yes I have a replacement used part as to whether its better value to replace with a new one or not you have to decide yourself but I have looked up the new price from eurocarparts in the UK to help you decide ( I also converted all currency to euros at todays rate)

new from Eurocarparts 31euros + postage
secondhand 13 euros + postage

I have costed the postage (airmail) to be 9 euros (I would assume thats the same for both of us but you need to check or find a local supplier in Eire.

just a thought have you checked the capacitor attached to the coil shown in the photo below and also have you hooked up the earth wire as well?

did not check the capacitor properly is there an easy way to test it?
is the earth not through the connector? or through the bolt that holds it to the car?

The capacitor is effectively an open circuit for current from a battery.

So the simple test is to take a battery and bulb and connect it in series (one single loop battery capacitor bulb)

if the capacitor is defective the bulb will light and stay on .

If its ok then one of 2 things will happen

bulb will either light and quickly turn dim and go out.

OR

will not light at all

the earth wire connects to the distributor housing.
