Welcome to Gaz's (aka DragonLord, dragon, dragonv480) little Volvo 480 Site.
This site serves two main functions; It is a chronicle of various modifications
to my own Volvo 480 Turbo, details of my 480 Celebration, meetings I have
attended etc. But its second function, and possibly its most important
function as an open forum for all Volvo 480 owners to share pictures
and ideas, as well as be a useful informational resource in all respects.
Indeed, this site is the official filestore and download site for the Volvo
480 Club of Europe, about which, there is more information in a moment.
For those that don't know it, the Volvo 480 was designed and
initially built in the mid 80's; It is a highly styled vehicle and was a
very advanced car for it's time - it's production lasted until 1995, which
is surely a testament to it's stylishness in itself, as by the early 90's,
car manufacturers had already embraced the "curvy" model of car design that
lasts till today; the fact a wedge shaped car, with many straight edges was
still popular enough to be built until the mid 90's shows the resilience and
strength of the design and functionality of this unique car.
First of all, a note to all Volvo 480 owners: I am a member of the
Volvo 480 Club of Europe
, which is a free to join club of like minded 480 owners. You may not be
part of a club already, you may never even have considered it, but I urge you
to join this one, as it is a very friendly community and has an online forum
where many years of 480 expertise is available to help you with any ailments
of your car etc. They even send you a completely free car sticker if you want
one :-) - Click the link above, or the logo below for more info into the club,
or indeed the history of this classic car.
I currently own only one 480, a 1995 Turbo model in Flame Red Metallic with Jacquard/Leather interiorwhich was bought in Winter 2001, and less than a
year later, became the basis for a series of modifications, chronicled on this site. I did briefly own a near-mint Celebration model, which I have always wanted, but I then had to sell it on - it's own pages on this site remain as part of my 480-owning history, and my previous 2 480 ES will soon be added to this site for completeness.
I do technically own another 480 turbo, which is purely for spares, and now doesn't even look like a car, as the angle grinder has been out recently!!! This is to provide spares to the Turbo project.
This site is basically split sections, which are all accessible
via the navigation bar at the top. Please feel free to browse the site,
and if you feel you have something to contribute, send me an email using the
contact link above. Enjoy! :-) --Dragon
